As a young adult, you have choices: stay on your parent’s health plan, buy your own plan, or get coverage through a new job. If you decide to get your own insurance you’ll find lots of choices at NY State of Health.
New this year is the Essential Plan. The Essential Plan is a new health plan that makes coverage even more affordable for many lower-income New Yorkers. If you qualify for this plan, you pay just $20 per month for coverage – less than a dollar a day – or nothing depending on your income. There is no annual deductible, preventive care is free and other services have only a small copayment. Qualified New Yorkers can also enroll in Medicaid and Child Health Plus through NY State of Health.
