University at Albany Student Races Toward Olympic Dream

Grace Claxton will represent the University at Albany next week in the NCAA Championships and represent her native country of Puerto Rico this summer in the Olympic Games.

At a regional meet in Florida last week, Claxton, a senior, qualified to participate in Rio with a school-record time of 55.90 seconds.

“We think this is just the beginning people will be hearing about Grace,” said Puerto Rican Athletics Federation¬†Vice President Luis Dieppa.

Last summer in Toronto, Claxton hit the world stage for the first time representing Puerto Rico at the Pan American Games this past summer in Toronto and has since continued to participate in other international competitions.
